CLINT PEGRAM (Chief Executive Officer) Clint’s background is in Information Technology (IT). He has spent the last 15 years in the IT industry. The industries that he worked in are short-term insurance and forestry. During these years, he has been exposed to various methodologies, application development tools, network infrastructure, and IT strategy alignment to the business strategy.
In 2002, he established his own company. His company was awarded an outsourcing contract by Mondi Forests, a division of Mondi LTD. Mondi LTD forms part of the Anglo Paper and Packing Division of Anglo plc.
The contract included the outsourcing of all key operational systems. The company was to programme manage and project manage all software development and also to put together a sound application development process for future use by the client.
The challenges that the company was faced included the use of new technology, the upskilling of staff, the migration of the client software to a much more advanced product i.e. (moving from PeopleSoft World to PeopleSoft OneWorld), managing the change for the client in moving to new technology.
Clint’s company was successful in the migration, integration and upskilling staff to successfully deliver all keys projects. Our success can be attributed to having a clear vision, teamwork, team core values, the right people for the job and a commitment to a project management methodology.
In 2005, Clint was involved in a SAP project. We completed the development and integration of a system written in Delphi and that integrated into SAP modules namely FI (Financials), MM (Material Management), and Sales and Distribution (SD).
Clint holds an MBA from the University of Wales, an Advanced Business Management (ABP) Diploma from Technical Witwatersrand and a National Diploma in Computer Data Processing (CDP) from Peninsula Technikon. He has also completed the Computer Users Council (CUC) exam.
Clint is also a recent member of the Institute of Directors (IOD). ——————————————————————————————————————————————————— MAFOKA MOTHAMAHA (Deputy Chief Executive Officer)
Mafoka’s background is in politics, administration and human resource development. After serving time for political offences, he spent the last thirteen years in non-governmental organisation, tertiary and packaging industry. During these years he has been exposed to sound administration and human resource development interventions and practices.
Working for the Association of ex-Political Prisoners, he ran the administration and special projects as well as produced audited financial statements for three consecutive financial years. The organisation was taking care of the needs of ex-political prisoners and re-integrating them back into society.
In 1997, he was elected deputy president of the student representative council (SRC) at Technikon Witwatersrand. He also represented students at Technikon council level and served on its human resources sub-committee. This sub-committee was faced with a challenge of transforming its human resource policies and strategies to be in line with the new political dispensation.
Mafoka was chairman of the Technikon’s broad transformation forum (BTF). He contributed to the transformation agenda of this forum that culminated, among others, in the formation of the search and selection committee for the appointment of the new vice-chancellor. He took part in the search and selection committee, which made history by appointing the first black female Technikon vice-chancellor in South Africa.
In 1998, the Technikon employed him as the residence manager. In this position, he was to look after the development needs of students living on Technikon premises. Main challenges facing him were counselling of students, career guidance and diversity training as well as creating “hygienic” conditions for effective learning.
In 1999, he joined Nampak Liquid Packaging as development specialist. A year later he became a training and development manager with one of Nampak’s divisions. Over and above serving on various management committees, his main tasks were to align the human resource development strategy to achieve the business’ strategic objectives, source and implement organisation development interventions, implement skills development programmes, performance analysis and management.
He later became the training and development manager of a cluster of four Nampak divisions. Before he left Nampak, the main projects he was running were:
Implementing fast trackers to comply with Nampak’s BEE charter Strategic skills audit to determine critical skills needed now and in the future Implementing change initiatives
He is a part-time tutor at University of Johannesburg in Advanced Management of Training IV.
Mafoka joined SLP in November 2004 on a part-time basis assisting with new business.
Mafoka holds a National Diploma in Human Resources Development, a BTech. in Human Resource Development, a Certificate in Principles of Production and Inventory Management. He is left with one module to complete his Advanced Business Management Diploma (ABP). He is also a board member of Institute of Organisation Development and Transformation (IODT), a member of American Society of Training and Development SA Forum
